OUR STORY

Built for the Barn. Designed for the Track.

Thoroughbred Clothing Co. was created from a real connection to the horse — not just the spectacle of race day, but the early mornings, the quiet barns, and the grit behind every start.

This isn’t fast fashion inspired by racing.
It’s built from the backstretch.

Too often we noticed something missing in the sport we love. Industry professionals appear on television, podcasts, and interviews representing racing every day — yet almost never wearing apparel that represents the sport itself.

In nearly every other sport, when fans show up to a game they wear their team proudly. Jerseys, hats, jackets — something that says they belong to that community.

But in horse racing, that culture hasn’t really existed.

We created Thoroughbred Clothing Co. to change that.

Our goal is to build apparel that people in this industry actually want to wear — from the backstretch to the grandstand. Clothing that represents the horse, the work, the heritage, and the fans who truly live this sport.

From the Five Cloth collection to our State-Bred series, every design is rooted in authenticity. We draw inspiration from saddle cloths, racing silks, and the pride that comes from the places that breed champions.

We believe what you wear should say something.

It should say you understand the grind.
It should say you respect the horse.
It should say you belong here.

This is Thoroughbred culture — off the track.

FOUNDER’S NOTE

Horse racing has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.

I grew up going to the track with my dad. He was a gambler, always studying the form and looking for an edge. I was drawn to something different — the horses themselves. The post parade. The quiet intensity in the paddock. The moment just before the gates open when everything builds toward the break.

Like many fans of that era, I was captivated by the rivalry between Sunday Silence and Easy Goer. I was firmly in the Easy Goer camp while my dad cheered for Sunday Silence. It made those races unforgettable.

Closer to home, the horse that truly captured my imagination was Izvestia. I remember seeing him run live in the spring of 1990, and from that moment on I was hooked.

Years later that passion led me to start a partnership company called United Thoroughbreds, where we focused on purchasing yearlings eligible for the Ontario Sired Series during one of the most exciting periods for that program. While the economics of the sport eventually forced me to step away from ownership, the love for racing never left.

After reconnecting with great friends and respected industry people Bev Chubb and Tim Orlando, I realized I didn’t want to stay on the sidelines anymore.

Thoroughbred Clothing Co. was born from that realization.

Too often I noticed that people representing this incredible sport on television, podcasts, and interviews weren’t wearing anything that represented racing itself. In almost every other sport, fans proudly wear their team’s colors. Horse racing deserved something like that — something authentic that people in the sport and true fans could wear with pride.

That’s what we’re building.

Apparel inspired by the horses, the heritage, and the people who make this sport special.
